A Serene Lakeside Haven in Franklin County, Missouri

Nestled in the rolling hills of Franklin County, Fawn Lake Community is a private, mixed-use retreat that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and peaceful lakeside living. Established in 1970 around our pristine 40-acre lake, our exclusive community has grown into a cherished sanctuary where property owners and their families create lasting memories surrounded by nature's splendor.

Our crown jewel is the tranquil Fawn Lake, held back by an impressive earthen dam completed in 1969. This scenic waterway serves as both the heart of our community and a vital stopover along the great migratory bird flyway. From the majestic Bald Eagles that call our lake home year-round to the countless waterfowl species that grace our waters during spring and fall migrations, Fawn Lake offers our members unparalleled opportunities for wildlife observation and photography.

With 275 acres thoughtfully developed to include both year-round residential properties and seasonal camping sites, our private community maintains the perfect balance between thoughtful development and natural preservation, ensuring that current and future property owners will continue to enjoy this special corner of Missouri's natural heritage.

Important Community Updates

FALL ASSOCIATION MEETING MINUTES

October 06, 20255 min read

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Fall Association Meeting. We had a good

turnout and a great meeting. For those who could not attend, here are some highlights:

Meagan Adams reviewed the treasurer's report. Our financials are in good standing, and we

are well-positioned to meet all our financial obligations until the end of the fiscal year.

There were no questions.

Each committee provided a review of the updates featured in the Fall Newsletter and

opened the discussion to address any questions.

Beach - Jimmy Robinson

The beach would normally close on October 1st with the removal of the swim rope, but the

long-range forecast looks promising, so the rope will remain up as long as the warmer

weather holds out. The port-a-potties will be available until the beach closes.

There was a comment about the amount of goose droppings and a suggestion to place

some animal decoys to see if this would deter the geese from landing there. Jimmy will look

into getting some. Others commented that they had tried them at their property, but they

only worked for about three days. If anyone knows of a way to help deter the geese from

grazing in this area, please let Jimmy know your ideas.

Lake - Kevin Pardo, Steve Snyder

We are seeing good signs of the fish population improving. Thank you to everyone who is

abiding by the new fishing rules. If anyone has PVC pipes, plastic artificial plants, cedar

trees, Christmas trees, or other materials that can be used for additional fish cover, please

contact Kevin or Steve. Within the next 3-4 weeks, we will be adding bluegill, crappie, and a

few more Tiger Muskies.

In the Fall of 2003, the lake level was lowered several feet to dredge the end by the

bathhouse. The lake committee is considering the possibility of repeating this effort and

dredging out the coves that have filled in with silt. This would also benefit the community by

allowing lakefronts to be accessed for building or maintaining docks and rocky areas, as

well as providing some room for the heavier spring rains to dissipate and avoid the flooding

issues we experienced this year. A project like lowering the lake level requires extensive

planning and obtaining accurate cost estimates before any decisions can be made. The

lake committee will keep everyone updated.

A concern was raised about a metal object that is about to protrude from the water in front

of Snyder's house, which could damage a boat or motor. Steve explained that it is not

metal, it is one of the plastic PVC "trees" added for fish cover. With the drought and lower

water level, boaters need to be more aware of trees or other objects that would typically be

deeper.

Dam - Floyd Lee

The last mowing of the year is postponed due to the dry conditions. A large excavator will

be rented the week of October 13th, and work on the lower part of the spillway will take

place to clear out the large boulders and excessive washout caused by the heavy rains in

April. Future work to reinforce the upper spillway is scheduled to take place next fiscal year,

when funds are replenished. Cody will also use the excavator to recapture more gravel from

the cove by the bathhouse, as well as to dig out additional roadside ditches. A reminder to

all lot owners: your driveway culverts are your responsibility, not the road committee's, and

they need to be kept clean and clear. Any culvert that is not being maintained will be

removed and placed on the owner's lot, allowing water to flow freely and helping to prevent

damage to the roads on your neighbor's property.

Bathhouse - Larry Wilson

The bathhouse has looked great all season! Thank you, Angi, for doing an outstanding job.

Handicapped handrails have been added, along with a small waste can in the ladies'

bathroom. Thank you to all owners who utilize the bathhouse for keeping it clean for the

next person. The bathhouse will remain open as long as possible. If a hard freeze is

predicted, Larry will winterize the water lines. If you plan to use the dump station while

winterizing your camper, please be aware of this and plan accordingly. Once the bathhouse

and dump station are winterized, neither will be available until Spring.

Security - Don Allen

Don thanked Larry Wilson for taking on the extra work since Al is no longer doing security

rounds. Don also announced the need for another security person. A possible candidate

has stepped forward, and more information will be shared soon.

Board of Directors Candidates

There are two open positions, and only two people have decided to run; therefore, we will

not need to send out ballots this year. Your new directors starting in January will be Mark

Pavely and Ross Butler.

Open Discussion items

Don gave a heartfelt thank you to everyone for all the support he has received over the past

six years as President. The bylaws require him to take at least 1 year off before he can run

again. He and his wife, Renea, will still be active in the community and will be helping

Jimmy and Amy with the beach area.

Ross Butler introduced TJ Davis and others who were our pyrotechnicians for fireworks this

year and offered to do them again next year. They would like some input from the

community on whether you would like to see anything done differently. This display is only

possible through donations from the community, so there will be opportunities to

contribute. Ross would like to get donations by the end of April, so he knows how much to

order.

There were no other questions, so the meeting adjourned. Don led us in a prayer before we

enjoyed a great meal of chili, hot dogs, pasta salad, and desserts, spending time talking

and getting to know our neighbors.
